The Utility Platform for strengthening partnerships between municipal enterprises worldwide is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The operator platform is being developed and implemented in cooperation with the German Association of Municipal Enterprises (VKU), German Water Partnership (GWP) and Engagement Global with its Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW).

GIZ bears overall responsibility for the Utility Platform vis-à-vis the BMZ. It stands as guarantor for establishing an efficient utility platform. The municipal enterprises that make up the partnerships in the pilot phase are financed and advised by GIZ. It is expected that close links will be forged and synergies achieved with GIZ projects in the partner countries.
