Utility and solidarity partnerships with Ukraine

The cooperation between German and Ukrainian utility companies takes place via "classic" utility partnerships, which were established before the escalation of Russia's war of aggression, as well as via "solidarity utility partnerships", that emerged during the escalation of the war.

Like a classic utility partnership, a solidarity utility partnership is a cooperation between one or more German municipal water companies and one or more Ukrainian water utilities. Due to the current situation, however, the focus is on procuring the necessary technical equipment as well as the required know-how to support Ukraine in rehabilitating critical infrastructure. Even if experts from German operators cannot travel to Ukraine at the moment, trips by Ukrainian partners to Germany can be part of the partnership work.

Donation campaign for Ukrainian water companies

In order to provide additional support to Ukrainian water suppliers in times of war, the Utility Platform has launched a donation campaign. It is jointly organised by the German Association of Local Utilities (VKU) and GIZ. The VKU is in direct dialogue with the Ukrainian water association "Ukrvodokanalecologiya", which pools the requests for assistance from its 160 member companies and sends the VKU specific lists of requirements.
