Within the framework of the operator partnership between KASHWASA/KUWASA, HAMBURG WASSER and Netze BW Wasser, a group of colleagues from Germany conducted a first fact-finding mission on site in the city of Kahama and Shinyanga resp. In addition to meetings with various focuses, visits to some of the Tanzanian operators' technical facilities took place. These included visits to KUWASA’s infrastructure and apparatus as well as to KASHWASA’s waterworks “Ihelele” and the laboratory unit. At Ihelele WTP, initial suggestions for optimising the water treatment process were made on the basis of jointly conducted laboratory tests, some of which were implemented immediately. In the coming months, the partners will build upon these findings and achievements to proceed with the next steps of this fruitful cooperation towards improved drinking water supply in the region.
