Yoram William Sinyangwe has no doubt about it: the partnership with Gelsenwasser AG has been a blessing for his company – at all levels. ‘Virtually the entire organisation is involved in the project here. All 256 employees know the project and every single one of them supports it,’ reports the Managing Director of Zambia’s Kabwe-based Lukanga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Ltd. (LgWSC) enthusiastically at the utility platform’s end-of-May networking meeting in Stuttgart, Germany.

Gesa Kutschera, engineer and project manager with Gelsenwasser, is most happy about the fact that, two years after the pandemic-driven recess, it is now possible to engage in real in-person exchanges. On-site company visits have been underway again since November 2021. ‘The online meetings were helpful,’ says Kutschera, ‘but tangible progress is mostly made on site and through analogous cooperation.’

Experts from Gelsenwasser and EGLV already paid a visit to their professional counterparts in Zambia three weeks prior to the Networking meeting in Stuttgart to put a concrete strategy together for implementing their action plan in the different working groups for drinking water, sanitation, energy efficiency and PR.
